UNY Confers Professorship on Prof. Dr. Christina Ismaniati, M.Pd. in Learning Strategy

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has officially conferred the academic title of Professor upon Prof. Dr. Christina Ismaniati, M.Pd. in the field of Learning Strategy at the Faculty of Education. The conferment was held during a public session of the UNY Academic Senate, attended by university leaders, senate members, faculty staff, students, and invited guests from various institutions.
This conferment represents the highest academic recognition of Prof. Christina Ismaniati’s long-standing dedication, scholarly contributions, and leadership in the development of educational sciences, particularly in the area of learning strategies and educational technology. It also reaffirms UNY’s commitment to strengthening academic excellence and advancing high-quality human resources in higher education.
In her inaugural professorial lecture, Prof. Christina emphasized the importance of adaptive, human-centered, and meaningful learning strategies in response to the challenges of contemporary education. She highlighted that education in the digital era and global society requires learning approaches that extend beyond cognitive achievement to include character development, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. According to her, effective learning strategies must be contextually designed, supported by the responsible use of technology, and grounded in learners’ real needs.
Furthermore, Prof. Christina underscored the role of educators as learning designers who hold a strategic responsibility in creating inclusive, reflective, and sustainable learning environments. She explained that learning strategies should not be viewed merely as teaching methods, but as a systematic framework that integrates learning objectives, content, media, learning activities, and assessment in a holistic manner.

As an academic, Prof. Dr. Christina Ismaniati, M.Pd. has been actively involved in teaching, research, and community engagement. She has produced numerous scholarly publications in national and international journals that contribute to the advancement of learning strategies and educational technology. In addition, she has played a significant role in student supervision, curriculum development, and participation in academic and professional forums at the national level.
In their remarks, UNY leadership expressed appreciation for Prof. Christina Ismaniati’s achievement and conveyed their expectation that her professorship would further strengthen the University’s contribution to educational development. Professors are expected not only to serve as centers of academic excellence but also to act as role models in scholarly leadership, knowledge development, and community service.
The conferment of Prof. Dr. Christina Ismaniati, M.Pd. as Professor is expected to have a positive impact on strengthening academic culture, improving the quality of learning, and advancing the field of learning strategy and educational technology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and beyond.
